Itinerary:

  • Day 1. San José
    Arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José. Shuttle transfer to your hotel.
  • Day 2. San José – San Gerardo de Rivas (129km)
    Early in the morning we will be heading to the Cerro de la Muerte. Our first stop will be to eat a traditional Costa Rican breakfast at a local restaurant. Our shuttle will descend into the Valle del General until we reach the community of San Gerardo de Rivas. During the evening we will visit a gorgeous orchid garden. Our last stop is at the art gallery (dinner is included).
  • Day 3. San Gerardo de Rivas – Altamira de Biolley
    (135km)
    Our day starts at the Canaan community, where we will visit a small dairy farm. We are going to learn about the milking and cheese making process. After lunch we’re heading to Topolandia in Pérez Zeledón. This is a house formed by a labyrinth of underground tunnels, made all by hand. Our tour continues to Los Chacuacos to drink a coffee and observe birds. The day ends at the Altamira de Biolley community which borders the “Parque Internacional La Amistad”. Dinner is included.
  • Day 4. Altamira de Biolley
    Breakfast. We are visiting Pancho to learn more about his Bio Alternative organic project. After lunch, we will be heading to El Jardín del Café, the biggest private collection of coffee species in the world, with more than 200 varieties. They produce limited quantities of their coffees and sell them to high end coffee roasters. Dinner is included.
  • Day 5. Altamira de Biolley – Palo Seco (161km)
    Breakfast. Our tour continues through the communities of San Vito, Agua Buena, Fila de Cal, Ciudad Neily and Río Claro. The next stop is at the community of Palo Seco in the Península de Osa. We will learn everything about the cacao plant and the process to make it into chocolate. Dinner is included
  • Day 6. Palo Seco
    Breakfast. We will visit an agricultural project led by women, where they will teach us everything about palm hearts and show us their plantations. Later in the day we are heading to Playa Blanca to take a boat ride through the mangroves of the Golfo Dulce. At the end of the day, we will go back to the agricultural project. Dinner is included.
  • Day 7. Palo Seco – Naranjito de Quepos (208km)
    Breakfast. Our shuttle will take us to the Sierpe de Osa community, where we will stop to visit the Pre-Columbian cacique settlements and the famous stone spheres. After lunch a boat will be waiting for us to take us through the Sierpe river, the gateway to the Térraba-Sierpe Wetlands, the largest mangrove reserve in Latin America and home to an amazing selection of birds and reptiles.
  • Day 8. Naranjito de Quepos
    Breakfast. We are spending the day at a property where we will learn the traditional way of extracting sugar cane juice. Lunch includes a delicious BBQ made with local fresh ingredients. Later on we can explore the organic garden and hike around the trails of the property.
  • Day 9. Naranjito de Quepos – San José (186km)
    Breakfast. Early in the morning we Will be visiting some beautiful waterfalls, natural pools and a hanging bridge. Later we are heading back to San José. (Lunch and dinner are included)
  • Day 10. San José
    Breakfast. Transfer to Juan Santamaría International Airport. End of services.
